I know it’s hot out, but between the copper mixing bowls my mom bought us for our anniversary and my hankering for a mousse called “chocolate pot” at a local greek restaurant, last night I found myself many bowls deep, kitchen aid out, and burners on for this edition of summer mousse.
I originally went looking for Julia’s recipe because well she is Julia Childs, but it required a lot of waiting so I went to the other woman. Slightly less talented, criminal record, Martha.

You will need one bar good chocolate. You can use chips or something but I chose dark.
4 egg Yolks
2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon vanilla
4 tablespoons sugar
I inverted her recipe a bit making the whip cream with the mixer as I was melting chocolate so that I would have more time because whip cream can hang out for a bit.
I then made the heavy cream heated yolk combo. I mixed the heavy cream and chocolate but both whip cream and chocolate in fridge while we ate some grilled veggies.
Then I combined. Fold. This is key to a frothy silky dessert.
finally carefully spoon into individual cups or containers and chill for about half hour. It’s 2014 no waiting 8 hours.
So even though your hot while making once you are enjoying the rich chocolate you are cooled down. Enjoy your weekend!
